Summer 2019: Day 22 – a trip to the library, shops, and tea at Costco
This summer I’ve posted what we’ve been up to each day of the school holidays – you can see a summary of our adventures at our 2019: 42 Days of Summer page.
Today we visited the library to pick up our first books for the Summer Reading Challenge (hosted by Sunderland Libraries). This year’s theme is Space Chase. If children read six books before the end of the summer holidays, with a minimum of three visits, they earn a certificate and other goodies. Today the boys got a free bag. Washington Library are hosting craft sessions on Tuesday afternoons throughout summer with a suggested £2 donation.
In the Galleries shopping centre we spotted an Enchanted Garden with free craft activities every day in August between 11am and 4pm.
We then headed to IKEA to buy a new pan, and the boys were gutted the free soft play was closed. When they were younger Dad and I used this a lot to grab a cuppa in peace. I have fond memories of my parents taking me when I was a girl. We enjoyed the walk round, especially the cuddly toy section.
And finally to Costco for cheap and cheerful tea.
I hope you’ve had a good day. Are you taking part in a Summer Reading Challenge? What have you been up to?
