Summer 2019: Day 11 – Air Trail at Tees Barrage
This summer I’ve posted what we’ve been up to each day of the school holidays – you can see a summary of our adventures at our 2019: 42 Days of Summer page.
Today Boy 1 and I spent a thrill seeking day at Tees Barrage with Useful Vision.
First up was a go on the Air Trail. Boy 1 was harnessed and went straight to the top, where he proceeded to walk across a beam with no hand rails. No fear! Super proud.
The air trail is the highest in Europe and if booked online costs £9.95 for individuals or £36.95 for a family of four. We also had a go paddling in a bell boat, and on a speedboat, which was like a motorbike on water (we sat astride seats and held on tight). There are lots of other activities you can try as a family including white water rafting and paddle boarding, and there’s a Premier Inn on site if you wish to extend your stay.
It was good to catch up with friends and chat about things such as how quickly electric vehicles are advancing (eg the Nissan Leaf milage range has increased from approx 90 miles per charge to 160, and will soon be 260), and I learned what a Celebrant is – someone who performs and officiates at official ceremonies eg weddings, baby naming and funerals.
