Summer 2019: Day 10 – A walk to the cinema to see the Lion King.
This summer I’ve posted what we’ve been up to each day of the school holidays – you can see a summary of our adventures at our 2019: 42 Days of Summer page.
Painting is ongoing this week, and today was glossing and paining doors downstairs. Dad is working at home and let us have a nice lie in. I decided to take the boys out to avoid mishaps and breathing fumes.
The boys were keen to see the new Lion King film, so we walked approximately five miles to the cinema, and bused home. I bought tickets via Kids Pass App which saved a couple of pounds each (TasteCard have recently expanded to include cinema and attractions too, via their TasteCard+ option).
The film followed the original cartoon version, and Boys 1 and 2 rated it 10/10. They said it was as good as Toy Story 4. Boy 3 rated it zero as “it was scary”. I hadn’t realised Beyonce was in it as Nala (Simba’s girlfriend).
I enjoyed the quotes and life lessons in the film, in particular, “While others search for what they can take, a true king searches for what he can give”. Joseph Lalonde summarises well in this leadership article – https://www.jmlalonde.com/quotes-and-leadership-lessons-from-the-live-action-lion-king/
Dad and I have started watching Gotham Series 5 tonight, which has recently been released on Netflix.
