Following our recent visit to the Elmer Family Day at Gateshead Library, today we visited Saltwell Park for Elmer’s Patchwork Parade and Family Fun Day …
Feel a warm glow of excitement we certainly did as we visited the stalls, had a go on rides, had a go on a green dragon pedalo, and then took part in the parade itself at 12 noon. Here are some of our pictures;
Highlights for me included seeing Steve and Karen from Metro Radio, the colourful clothes and costumes, and the live music around the parade. At midday the sun came out from behind the clouds, and the field was filled with picnic rugs. The St Oswald’s stalls were cheap and cheerful, and included fancy dress costumes people had donated for £2, and lawn games for £1. There was also a big tent of activities such as face painting, decorating badges, and a reading corner. Boy 2 enjoyed having his photo taken with a life size Elmer. Boy 3 enjoyed being out on the lake, and winning a minion teddy.
Along the parade, we got to see four elephants ahead of Elmer’s Great North Parade, the region-wide public art trail, which opens on 21st August 2019. We cannot wait 🙂
Here’s a link to more information about the day, and a form to sign up to hear about future events.
