This week Dad and I celebrated our anniversary in style with a Bannatyne Spa Day at Durham. We’d purchased a Wowcher deal in January which included three treatments, a spa product and £5 retail voucher for two people.
On arrival we enjoyed a Swedish back massage, an Elemis facial, and then a scalp massage which lasted approximately 50 minutes. The room smelt amazing, and oozed luxury. It was nice to be in the same room together, and reminded me of a similar massage we’d had on our honeymoon. The spa product included was a nice touch – a bottle of massage oil each.
We headed to the cafe for brunch. The menu included breakfast items, curries, pizzas, burgers and other main meals. The prices were reasonable (you could get toast, cereal and porridge for less than £2, and main meals ranged from £5-£10) and they have a good range of smoothies (plus Starbucks and a bar if you’d like something stronger).
We then donned robes and flip flops (£6 additional charge each or you can bring your own), and headed to the 15 meter pool and spa. Lying in the sauna and steam room always reminds me of holidays. We’ve not been abroad for several years so this is a great second best. The jacuzzi was powerful and acted as another massage. My favorite place where we headed last was the relaxation room, which has heated tile beds. Relaxing music plays and you can help yourself to water and read magazines. I think I fell asleep for 20 minutes or so – pure bliss.
If wished, we could also have made use of the gym and classes throughout the day.
All in all a thoroughly relaxing anniversary. I would recommend Durham Bannatyne Health Club. We’ll be keeping an eye out for future offers… (this one was £69 for two (71% of the usual cost of £240)).
Have you visited this spa? Or any other good ones recently?
